One in every three girls and one in
seven boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18.
The abuse of our precious children is on the rise. It is the goal of the State’s Attorney’s Office to aggressively prosecute and punish those that prey upon the vulnerable. To help the children heal, the State’s Attorney’s Office has partnered with other local agencies to form the Child Advocacy Center.
The Child Advocacy Center is a safe place where victimized children feel protected to talk about traumatic events and receive assistance. Our goal is to improve the community’s response to children who have been victims of sexual and physical abuse.
The CAC offers:
* Forensic Interviews—a non-traumatic way to make children feel safe to disclose abuse
* Medical Examinations–conducted by a pediatrician specially trained in working with victims of child abuse
* Professional Team—Child Protective Services workers, detectives, prosecutors, therapists, and community resource leaders come together to offer assistance and supportive coping plans for victims and their families
* Referrals for Services—a streamlined approach to getting the help children need during this difficult time
The CAC is a collaborative effort of:
